A ROAD-GOING REPLICA OF THE MV AGUSTA F3 BY JULES CLUZEL AND LORENZO ZANETTI HOT FROM THE SCHIRANNA REPARTO CORSE. THE BIKE, PRODUCED IN A LIMITED EDITION OF 350, IS AVAILABLE WITH THE 675 WSS CYLINDER CAPACITY OR THE MEATIER 800 TRACK DAY VERSION.

A supersport with a chassis and technology of unprecedented sophistication. Since its first appearance, it has emerged as the new technological benchmark in the category, growing to 800 cc to create a new segment in the international supersport market. At the same time, its racing life has been packed with success, notching up more international victories to continue the MV Agusta’s enviable sporting record.

This achievement has been backed by a sound team that achieved improved results and image: the Reparto Corse Cluzel and Zanetti set the fans on fire with their sharp F3 RC Tricolori, certainly the most admired and envied motorbikes in the championship. Anyone who gets their hands on a F3 RC special series bike will be able to translate these thrills to roads and track days.

The F3 RC, produced in a limited edition of 100 bikes in the 675 configuration and 250 in the meatier 800 configuration, faithfully reproduces the graphics of the Jules Cluzel and Lorenzo Zanetti motorbike. To certify the originality of each bike, every F3RC is autographed by both riders, #16 Cluzel on the right side panel and #87 Lorenzo Zanetti on the left.

F3 Reparto CorseThe F3RC was born on the track and is destined to spend most of its life on the road. That’s why it is equipped with a top-quality anodised aluminium cover set to be fitted in place of the rearview mirrors, clutch and brake levers in Ergal with anti-break joint, single-seat tail cover, Ergal running boards and rear racing stand. For the collectors among you, the Reparto Corse graphics, autographed by the official riders Jules Cluzel and Lorenzo Zanetti are enough to make the F3 RC an mouth-watering object of desire, not to mention the fact that, together with the F4, this is the first MV Agusta to sport the AMG logo on the fairing. All this, plus a plate certifying authenticity signed by the president Giovanni Castiglioni. No self-respecting riders, enthusiasts or collectors would pass up the opportunity to protect their bike with a “Reparto Corse” canvas cover that they can whip off to astound their friends.

motoreThe F3 RC engine is unique in the automotive scenario and universally regarded as the most advanced and powerful mid-sized power unit ever built. It is an in-line unit with three cylinders tilted 35° to the front with double overhead camshaft timing system, with four valves per cylinder, all titanium.

The ultra-light unit (it weighs only 52 kg) is packed with radical technological features such as a closed deck shell-cast crankcase with integral bores, the MVICS system and the adoption of titanium intake and exhaust valves, slipper clutch and above all a counter-rotating crankshaft, an idea taken from MotoGP to reduce inertia during direction changes – improving handling and engine balance.

Its distinctive features include integral water and oil circuits: the pump unit (water and oil) is fully enclosed by the engine and the ducts are all routed inside, contributing to the beautifully uncluttered looks of the most powerful Italian three-cylinder unit ever.

The engine is produced in two sizes, 675cc and 800cc and is an extreme over-square unit in the configuration type-approved for the WSS, as may be inferred from a bore of no less than 79 mm with a stroke of just 45.9; it is capable of a mighty 128 hp at 14,500 rpm and a torque of 71 Nm at 10,600 rpm This category-topping performance is combined with great torque and a four-cylinder extension with the limiter set at 15,000 actual revolutions.

The meatier 800cc version (actual cylinder capacity of 798cc) keeps the same bore of 675 with a longer stroke, which increases from 45.9 mm to 54.3 mm. The increase in cubic capacity brings with it a net gain of 20 HP, achieving a maximum power output of 148 HP at 13,000 rpm, with torque standing at 88 Nm at 10.600 rpm. The limiter is set to cut in at 13,500 rpm. The higher horsepower made it possible to fit a longer final ratio, which increases from 16/43 on the 675 to 17/41 on the 800, which is capable of 270 km/h, while the smaller 675 stops at 260 km/h.

elettronicaThe MV Agusta three cylinder design has taken state-of-the-art electronics into the mid-sized engine segment. The MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) platform combines fully electronic management of the accelerator and throttle body with traction control. The MVICS platform is all about Full Ride By Wire technology: the system allows the ideal throttle body opening value to be defined instant by instant, unlinking that value from the throttle’s angular rotation. This means there is no mechanical link between the accelerator and throttles: the injection and ignition mapping determines the optimum air-fuel mixture to achieve the best performance at every moment and under all load conditions.

The MVICS offers a multi-map approach, with three modes defined by the MV Agusta engineers and one fully customisable by riders, who can combine the available parameters to achieve their ideal power delivery. Traction control is now a must: it uses the same operating criteria as the highly-regarded F3 675 system, with eight settings that can be conveniently selected via handlebar controls and the compact, fully digital instrumentation.

ciclisticaMV Agusta riders have always known they can count on the very best components and outstanding chassis performance. The new F3 RC confirms its membership of the noble MV lineage with an absolutely superlative chassis and enough quality to put many racing superbikes to shame. In true MV tradition, the engine is clad in a sophisticated frame featuring a combination of steel tubing and aluminium side plates that hug the engine tightly to offer riders a compact motorbike that is streamlined to the max. The engine dimensions made it possible to build a cutting-edge chassis with a forward swingarm pivot point and a very long single-sided arm (576.5 mm) to guarantee the rider maximum traction and feel. All this has been achieved without penalising the wheelbase of just 1380 mm – a record for the category – or the weight, which has been stripped down to a lean 173 kg.

    Suspension and Brakes

freniAs you’d expect, the F3RC is equipped with the best components available on the market The solid forecarriage is capably controlled by a sophisticated Marzocchi fork with 43 mm diameter rods, adjustable for preload and also hydraulically for compression and rebound travel, with a maximum travel of 125 mm. A Sachs monoshock at the rear, comes with separate nitrogen reservoir. This also offers fully adjustable flexible and hydraulic functions, with the single arm travel set at 123 mm.

The braking system is the best the market can offer, a Nissin radial pump operates Brembo monobloc radial calipers (coded M4.34a), to ensure greater power even under the toughest riding conditions, such as on the track. The diameter has been confirmed for the front disc pair (320 mm) and the rear unit: a two-piston caliper and 220 mm diameter disc. The factory-fitted tyres are Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa. The sizes are 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear.
